Sr. No. DO,s DON,Ts
1) Tell your child that you are going to a friend/uncle who is also a Doctor and likes children. He must check his/her teeth initially. Do not tail your child about pain, blood, injections, etc. in the first place.
2) Tell him/her that getting teeth examined regularly may help finding problems-blackness , cavities early. Do not tell him/her something like “because you don’t brush your teeth properly doctor will give you an injection..” or “ because you eat chocolates , your spoiled teeth will be removed by doctor!”
3) If possible both the parents must remains present with the child. Do not insist on starting the treatment in the first visit.
4) Give your Doctor enough time to talk your child the time spent initially on building rapport and gaining his/her confidence will in turn save the time required for treatment. Do not voice your own fears about dentistry (pain, blood etc.) in front of your children. Your dentist can answer your queries separately.
5) 85 -90% percent children cooperate for all dental treatment. Help your Doctor in not only treating the child but instilling him/her a positive attitude towards dentistry. Avoid Dental appointments during the naptime or when he/she is too tired.
6) Whenever the Doctor wishes leave you child with him. The 1:1 communication between your child and Doctor is the key to successful Dental treatment. Do not bribe them with a gift beforehand. You may reward their appropriate behavior in the clinic (if obtained) later.
7) Get your child complete medical record (including Immunization status) for Doctors assessment. Also his/her school performance card. Do not make complaints of the child’s behavior to the doctor. Also don’t except perfect behavior at all visits.
8) Insist on understanding complete treatment programme, including the preventive measures and follow- up. Do not promise him/her in advance about the time the Doctor would take to treat, the pain he/she might get etc., which can mislead him/her simply say you don’t know.

Dental Health is right of each and every child! The parents and the dentist/pediatric dentist have to share the responsibility of delivering good preventive and therapeutic care of children.

The dental care is a continuous process, which start in womb (in expectant mothers) and continuous lifelong! Our specialty deals with the preventive as well as therapeutic dental care of preschool and school children (including those with special care needs)

We like to spend time with you! Please discuss the issues in details regarding your child’s dental and dietary habits with us. The treatment plan and the preventive regimen for your child have to be tailor-made.

Remember, most dental diseases are preventable, unfortunately, many a time we come across much advance stages of dental problems! This is primarily due to either lack of information on preventive care or absence of a painful condition (yes, many of us visit dentist only when we start suffering from pain)!

Another important deterrent to seeking dental care is fear of dentistry. Modern dentistry has several ways to take care of not just the pain, but also the fear. Please feel free to discuss all your concerns about dental care.

We help you begin early and begin well in terms of dental care. Prevention is not better but also cheaper and easier than cure.
